Individual Participants
For a CTF with individual participation mode turned on, users can join the CTF as an individual participant during the registration process.
Managing Individual Participants
As individual participants are basically users, they can be managed in the Manage Users
page
(Manage > Users
or /admin/manage/users
) by an organizer.
The admin can use the search bar at the top of the page to search for an individual participant by their name, username, and email.
There is also an option to select a list of users and perform bulk actions on them. The bulk actions include:
- deleting (users) participants
- banning (users) participants
- unbanning (users) participants
Editing Participant Details
Organizers can edit the details of individual participants by clicking on the Edit
button on the Manage Users
page.
Through this option, an organizer can modify the following details of a participant:
- Name
- Username
- Password (set a new password for the participant/user)
Setting Roles & Converting Participants to Organizers
Further, the organizer can also change the role of the participant from Participant
to Organizer
or vice versa.
To do this, the organizer needs to turn on the Is Organizer?
toggle. This will show up a Role
dropdown picker field
where the organizer can select the new organizer role to be now given to the user.
If the user was previously a individual participant, all the submissions, and other data associated with the participant will be permanently deleted.
Setting & Changing Teams
Organizers can also set and change the team of a user. To do this, the organizer needs to make sure to turn off the
Is Organizer?
toggle. This will show up a Team
dropdown picker field where the organizer can select the team to be
now given to the user.
If the user is already a part of a team, the organizer can change the team of the user by selecting a different team from the dropdown picker.
If the user is not a part of any team, the individual contestant data will be deleted and the user will be added to the selected team. This means all the submissions, and other data of the user will be permanently deleted.
Deleting Participants
Organizers can delete individual participant user accounts from the Manage Users
page, by clicking on the
Delete
button. Based on what the organizer has set in the Privacy & Security
settings, the account will
either be deleted permanently or soft-deleted. In either case, the user will not be able to log in to the platform
and all personally-identifiable information will be removed from the platform.
This is an irreversible action and the user will not be able to recover their account. It is advised to use this
option only when the user has requested to be deleted from the platform. To temporarily revoke access to a user, use the
Banning
feature instead.
Banning Participants
Organizers can ban users from participating in the CTF through the admin panel. To do this, click on a user's
name, and then click on the Ban
button on the top right of the popup opened.
Banned participants will not be able to access the CTF platform, and any existing scores will be unlisted from the scoreboard. They can be unbanned by the admin, and they will be able to access the CTF platform again, and previous scores, if any, will be restored.
